PDO shines at the Traffic Safety Expo 2012

Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) emphasized its commitment to safety by taking part in the Traffic Safety Expo 2012, which Royal Oman Police organized at the Oman International Exhibition Centre from October 16th to October 18th 2012.

The Expo was inaugurated under the patronage of H.E Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Futaisi, Minister of Transport and Communications. The expo featured the latest and most innovative road safety solutions from both local and international exhibitors. Traffic Safety Expo 2012 encouraged an enhanced attitude towards road safety to compliment an enhanced safety enforcement programme initiatives for road safety not only from public-private sector and NGO"s but public as well.

PDO¿s participation included giving away information about road safety; it also included the seatbelt convincer where around 207 people went through it during the three days. The seatbelt convincer has been an effective tool in persuading people on the importance of seatbelts for more than 8 years. The convincer depicts the impact a person would feel when crashing at 7 km/hr. Through this, people understood the importance of seatbelts because the impact is very serious even at a very low speed of only 7 km/hr. This time , PDO¿s run a live silent show through the participation of its road safety ambassadors and their families. The silent show in an extra ordinary method of representing the consequences of accidents and their major effects on families, friends and the Omani society.
