PDO management is working hard to resolve the issue of PDO expatriates who hold ROP "private light" licenses and who have historically driven as part of their work.
Until such time as the issue of legally providing defensive driving training and assessments to PDO staff has been resolved, any PDO employee who holds a private light license (provided it is valid as of 25th August 2010) will have their driving permit extended and hence does not need to book a DDC06 recertification course until such time as PDO announces the new recertification arrangements.
Please note that PDO contractors can presently only send "private light" license holders for DD training/assessment if they do so in a "T" plated SP2000 compliant vehicle, insured for training purposes.
The training providers are currently devising a one day theory based course for defensive driving to allow the small number of newly arrived PDO expatriates with private light licenses to drive "T" plated vehicles. This will provide a temporary solution to new expats until they can legally attend the proper course. Any PDO expat with a private light license who requires this theory based defensive driving training should email Christopher.Evans@pdo.co.om (MSE13) to request a booking.
