Qurum-Darsait Highway Junction

A Clarification

To all PDO staff/contractors,

PDO has received clarification from the ROP of the enforcement of the road traffic law regarding the practice of using the hard-shoulder (emergency lane) for queuing off the dual carriageway.

According to the traffic rules, it is strictly forbidden to use the hard shoulder to queue to wait on the Qurum Heights Road as this practice is illegal. With immediate effect, no person should use this lane and instead should queue in the slow lane of the dual carriageway until such time as you can exit the dual carriageway via the slip road (off ramp). Be warned as several PDO staff have already been issued with tickets by the ROP.

As staff and contractors are required NOT to use the hard shoulder and only join the junction at the slip road, this will cause a queue to form in the slow lane of the dual carriageway. So, watch out for where the rear of the queue will form, slow down in plenty of time and use your hazard warning lights when approaching the queue to warn the drivers behind you.

PDO have FOUR access gates: Gate-1, Gate-2, Gate-3 and Shell marketing-side Gate (east of terminal) and they are all safe. One can (choose) to avoid the highway that joins PDO road at the police junction and uses any of the four available gates.

Each person has a (choice) and can (choose) an alternative route if it is safer to do so. Although others have a role to play, but eventually, the responsibility for our behaviours and the choices we make cannot be delegated to others.
