The notoriously dangerous road between Seeb and Nizwa through the Sumail Gap has been the scene of another tragic road accident. The accident occurred when a truck came upon the scene of a previous accident. A vehicle in front of the truck braked sharply. The truck driver attempted to avoid collision with the vehicle but lost control. The truck swerved across the roadway and subsequently struck other vehicles at the primary accident scene. The vehicles collided with seventeen onlookers. Five people died. Twelve people were sent to the hospital with injuries.
