2024 LTI#16 MVI vehicle caught fire, Driver exits the vehicle with injuries and diagnosed with fracture left rib.
While a Prime mover and trailer en route to Marmul to deliver flanges, just after Sumail on Muscat highway towards Nizwa the driver lost control of the vehicle before experiencing a front left tyre blow out resulting in the prime mover crossing through the centre median before coming to rest across the opposite carriageway. The vehicle caught fire with the driver able to exit the vehicle, but he suffered multiple abrasion & laceration wounds to the head, neck & right upper limb. The Driver was taken to Sumail Hospital where X-ray revealed fractured left rib.
How do you ensure that your vehicle is meeting SP2000 V5 requirement? How do you ensure the driver is following DD learning? How do you ensure vehicle maintenance, brake test & tyre check are carried out on time? Expect the unexpected keep you distances and lane discipline
Truckdriver tried avoiding the vehicle in front due to harsh braking No ABS system in the Truck and trailer therefore due to harsh breaking resulted in tyre blow out. TPMS fitted but not working An old vehicle was used with no history of vehicle maintenance.
