To help PDO and its contractors understand what is involved and the requirements for In-Vehicle Monitoring Systems and Driver Merit Systems (IVMS/DMS) the PDO Drive to Survive web page for IVMS has been revamped with a new look and feel and the latest up-to-date information.
The new web page, branded with a satellite to reflect the PDO requirement to adopt the new GPS/GPRS technology on new contracts includes a whole host of information to help PDO and its contractors manage IVMS effectively.
The new technology allows real time tracking of vehicles via GPS and transmits the information back to a server by GPRS, which is then available on a web site for those with access to the information.
The new look web site covers a raft of issues from "What is an In Vehicle Monitoring System?", "How Does It Work", "Most Used Excuses from drivers on why they were not compliant" to information on "What can Be Seen" with links to some of the types of reports generated by IVMS . There is also training material and some useful links to case studies, articles and other information about IVMS.
Info on PDO"s recent initiative to trial a base model/low cost IVMS system involving several contractors and IVMS vendors is also available, with the web page being updated as new information comes to light which will be easily found by a marquee "What"s New In IVMS" that move across the top of the home page.
If you have any information about your IVMS experience you would like to be considered for inclusion on the web page contact the PDO Must Win Road Safety Adviser, Wayne Bajars whose contact details are listed on the Training Material page of the IVMS web page.
