Violation of Road Safety Rules by Rig Supervisor
Based on an information received from 3rd party that a Rig vehicle was spotted over- speeding on Muscat highway, it was subsequently discovered that a journey took place from Rig to Muscat by violating Journey Management requirements and tampering the speed limiter . Rig TP proceeding on leave was travelling in the vehicle.
Supervisors should lead by example, and NOT by violating Rules and Procedures.
Failure to follow rules /procedures/ Vehicle was travelling at more than set speed. Base journey manager was bypassed on the journey plan. Misuse of equipment / vehicle was used at more than governed speed by tampering with speedometer. Failure in Communication / Drilling Superintendent was not contacted by TP for permitting the journey. Improper motivation/ Driver and TP failed to realise the importance of Journey management procedure and Road Safety rules.
