The Potential Dangers of Remote Car Keys/Immobilisers
People have lost their lives in Oman recently when they were locked in cars when the driver used the remote (wireless) key to lock the vehicle and then walked away. The occupants were trapped inside - the door locks and windows could not be opened from the inside. ALL systems were immobilised. HEAT quickly built up inside the vehicles¿¿¿¿..

Some makes, e.g. Mercedes Benz, although having a remote immobiliser key, retain the ability for occupants to override the system and open the doors by the manual handle -Fail-Safe. The makes highlighted above have no such safety override!

The ROP have approached the local dealers to ensure changes are made. If you drive a vehicle which has a remote immobiliser key, be aware of the potential danger:
