Worksite Hazards
The fatal accident which recently occurred near Sahma booster station on a pipeline construction site has highlighted the need to examine hazards of peripheral operations. The victim was assisting in re-fuelling welding sets with diesel fuel. When walking between the slow moving diesel truck and the welding sets he was run over by the truck. Both the victim and the diesel truck driver were sub-contracted. The victim was relatively new to the operation. The victim had been instructed with regard to fire hazards associated with the re-fuelling operation but had not received other instructions.
