IVMS Travel Buddy roll out counter hits zero !!

Firstly, many thanks to everyone involved in the installation program for the IVMS Travel Buddies. It has been a mammoth effort by many people but we are pleased to announce that with the cooperation of all PDO departments FMSi and PDO Logistics have successfully completed the installation of all 780 PDO fleet vehicles on time.

We have also distributed 2000 programmed green driver IVMS keys and supplemented these with 450 blue vehicle IVMS keys as the supplier has faced supply problems of green keys. The remaining 500 green keys are planned for distribution in the first week of February.

All PDO pool cars now have their own IVMS keys to avoid disruption, please ensure you return these when you finish with the car to avoid the car becoming useless for everyone else.

As promised we are allowing a period of familiarization for IVMS to enable people to get used to driving with a Travel Buddy in their vehicle. During this stage we will be allowing the driver line managers and department IVMS focal points to organise their training and we will also complete the geo-fencing of all speed limits in Oman.

Then we will launch IVMS for real and show the contractors that it can be done effectively as part of our day to day management of health and safety on the roads.

Please find attached a training document which explains to drivers what IVMS is about and use it in toolbox talks and HSE meetings to spread awareness of what the Travel Buddies can do and how to drive safely so to keeping the Travel Buddy as your friend.

If you have been nominated or identified by your department or directorate as a Line Manager of people who drive or an IVMS focal point, you need to attend an IVMS training course, the schedule for which has been widely advertised and emails sent out directly.

Ignorance is no excuse and so please do not ignore or delay booking your place on the courses which allow you to fully understand the capabilities of the system and all what you need to know.

PDO is relying on IVMS to maintain the positive trend in its road safety performance and it is important that we set an example to our contractor community as to how it is done.
