Historically PDO and its contractors have suffered many fatal car accidents in the last week of Ramadhan and the start of Eid. The cause of these wasteful deaths...? Interior staff driving home early to celebrate Eid using their private vehicles without having had sufficient rest.

PDO and its contractors have a duty of care to ensure all staff are fully aware of the risks they face by driving tired or even being a passenger in a vehicle with a tired driver. Please ensure that all staff this week receive a briefing against partaking in this dangerous and potentially fatal practice.

Companies who pay supplements to their staff to stay in camp until they are authorized to leave should actively enforce this requirement.

Where companies have introduced short rotational leave for staff on shift during Eid to allow them to partake in part of the Eid celebrations with their families then this should be properly organized and managed using SP2000 organized transport. Eid is an important time for celebration with family and friends. However you need to think of the impact on your family of them receiving the news that their loved one has died in a car accident driving home to see them when too tired to drive safely.
