Failure of chair back
During a training course in one of the Wytch Farm meeting rooms, one of the delegates leaned back in his chair and as he did so the back of the chair broke away from the base and fell on the floor. The delegate narrowly avoided falling over backwards and striking their head on the wall behind. On further inspection it was discovered that a retaining pin on the seat back had not been fitted, and that all the chairs in the meeting room did not have this pin. This allowed the seat back to be extended beyond the range where it could hold the delegate¿s weight. A member of staff has since found that the pin was missing from a similar chair they had at home.
