Baader

PDO Staff Volunteering Project
The award-winning Baader project allows PDO staff to volunteer their time and expertise to help non-governmental organisations and charities and make a positive contribution to Omani society.

As a part of PDO’s continuing support to the community and commitment to sustainability, the Company is sharing its expertise and knowledge with other organisations such as NGOs, Ministries, municipal groups and charities. PDO has a vast pool of skill and capability in many disciplines and has put some of this at the country’s disposal in line with its obligations as a good corporate citizen.

In this context, the Company has launched the “Baader” project providing employees with opportunities to volunteer to help various segments of society. The response from staff has been overwhelming, with 250 expressing an interest to join within 30 minutes of the scheme being launched. Eighty staff have already been selected to assist eight Omani NGOs, such as the Oman Cancer Association and the Oman Association for Disabled Children.

Baader (which in Arabic means take the initiative, begin a good deed), enables staff to help charitable NGOs by devoting their time and expertise for free in areas such as IT, HR and administration, public relations and marketing, communications, archiving, finance, accounting, training, translation and event management.

Baader shares PDO’s vision “To be renowned and respected for the excellence of our people and the value we create for Oman and all our stakeholders.” It realises the vision of the Sultanate to secure a promising future for its citizens through its charitable enterprises. In short, Baader is part of PDO’s continuous social support aimed at creating a better world.
