PDO’s goal behind this tradition is not only to share the knowledge it acquires through the exploration of oil with the community of Oman, an area that it excels in, but also goes beyond to exploring the environment and the skies, fascinating its visitors in subjects such as the science of astronomy, environ​ment, energy and sustainable developments of our natural resources. The Company has established:

• The Oil and Gas Exhibition Centre (built in 1979 and upgraded in 1995)
• The Planetarium (built in 2000 and upgraded in 2012)
• The EcOman Centre (built in 2010)

The attractions offer an engaging journey providing scientific learning opportunities for families, students, tourists and professionals.

All three of these attractions can be found in the Knowledge World building in Seih Al Maleh Street, Muscat.

This building was inaugurated to help raise public awareness of the environment. It offers an engaging journey through the evolution and future of energy and aims to help visitors understand the possibilities of harnessing sustainable energy resources. In 2000, PDO built Oman’s first ever planetarium as an annex to the Oil and Gas Exhibition Centre as a Gift to the Nation to mark the 30th anniversary of the reign of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said. The Planetarium is suitable for both children and adults and teaches them about astronomy in an engaging way. The Centre was opened in November 1979. After extensive remodeling, it was re-opened in November 1995 as a Gift to the Nation to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the reign of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said.

The Knowledge World (KW) also has facilities to accommodate business meetings, presentations, and workshops or ceremonies in a fully equipped conference room and lecture hall.
