Visitors will be offered a free tyre check by Sheida International, Michelin and Bahwan Automobile. Campaign volunteers will also distribute free child car seats and other gifts, and the programme will include live discussions with visitors, address their queries and offer information relating to safe driving.
Tell A Friend Campaign Co-ordinator Munira Al Balushi said: “This is the third time we have appeared at the Salalah Khareef Festival, an event which provides us with a great platform to spread the message about safe driving and engage with motorists.
“Too many people are still being killed and injured on the Sultanate’s roads, and too many are endangering themselves and others by driving too quickly, without seatbelts or using their mobile phones at the wheel.
“We need to do all we can to keep the importance of safe driving in the public spotlight and I’m pleased with the positive response we have been receiving from members of the public at the festival.”
The five-year Tell A Friend campaign was officially launched by PDO in Muscat in January 2013 with the aim of lowering the number of road accidents in the Sultanate. It targets important areas of road safety such as responsible driving, speed management, vehicle maintenance, proper seat belt usage and driving whilst fatigued. The campaign has used a multi-media approach, including television, cinema, radio, newspapers, Facebook and Twitter to get its message across to all generations.
The Tell A Friend roadshow has travelled all over the country including to Ibri, Nizwa, Khasab, Shaleem and Al Jazir.
