The Company came first at the Chartered Institute of People and Development (CIPD) Middle East People Awards 2020 in the category of “Best Coaching & Mentoring Initiative.”
The triumph was announced today (23 September) during a virtual ceremony at the CIPD’s headquarters in Dubai.
The competition attracted more than 180 high-quality entries in 12 categories with the judges, including world-renowned HR experts, selecting 39 finalists who were assessed for their project’s innovation, impact, business alignment and relevance.
PDO won for its efforts in setting the foundations to support its staff coaching culture which included building a coaching framework that has been integrated into the Company’s people processes, and launching the Accredited Award in Coaching Training (AACT) programme in 2019. The externally certified scheme certified 24 human resources specialists as internal coaches.
These initiatives offer support in a range of business-critical areas such as career development, performance improvement and leading virtual teams. Such guidance and assistance have helped other staff develop their team leadership capabilities and gain positive feedback from their colleagues.
PDO People Director Faiza Rahmatullah said: “We are delighted that our efforts to develop a first-rate coaching environment for our staff have been recognised and celebrated by a globally respected organisation like the CIPD.
“At PDO, we aspire to make coaching skills core to how we work and leaders use such skills on a daily basis to help develop our staff. We want to create a climate where employees learn how to give and receive feedback, support and stretch a colleague’s thinking and drive performance.”
The CIPD is a leading organisation for human resource management professionals and is the world’s oldest association in its field after being founded in England in 1913. It is incorporated under Royal Charter and is the only professional body globally that can confer individual chartered status on those working in HR.
